Competitive Program
Our Competitive travelling soccer program is for players ages U9 to U19 at various competitive levels. Our teams participate in this travelling program through the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA).
We offer year-round programming with our main outdoor season in spring/summer and a shorter, fall outdoor season. This competitive program is designed for players who are interested in playing at a higher level of competition and under the guidance of a professional coach. Our licensed coaches use age appropriate training methods to create the well rounded player.
Playing in this exciting program requires a higher level of commitment and transportation to/from games and practices. Players should expect to train twice a week and play one league game per week during the spring/summer season. Our U9-U19 teams are also expected to participate in 1-3 weekend tournaments during the spring/summer season, which have some additional costs. Transportation is not provided for these games/tournaments and games can be up to 90 miles away.
MYSA provides 3 different levels of play in their league offerings. RSA participates in Minnesota Black & Blue Leagues and is in the South region.
An Important Message About Our Competitive Program
One of RSA's goals is to be inclusive and give every player a chance to play. This is why we don't hold tryouts - we work hard to find roster spots for every child that registers and we think this sets us apart from many other clubs. We focus on developing players - helping them to grow, learn, improve their skills, and develop virtues like teamwork and sportsmanship. Our successes on this pitch come from focusing on growth and player development first, and that's why we don't turn players away.
One other way in which we strive for inclusion in our community is by working hard to keep our costs and player fees low. We have many volunteers, and historically have used mostly volunteer coaches. In recent years we have been growing our program by offering more winter training opportunities, and coaching stipends to try to attract and develop better coaches. More training time and more skilled coaches will mean more development and growth for our players - and we want that for them. This comes at a cost to the program, and for the past several seasons we have not raised our fees and been operating the club at a loss. Starting in the Spring 2021 season, we need to raise our competitive program fees - not to make a big profit, but to cover our higher costs. The board believes these costs are worthwhile to give our players a better experience, and our fees are still lower than almost every other club in the metro. To help with budgeting, we have introduced an installment payment option you will see at checkout when you register. This will spread your season fees across 4 payments instead of having to pay all at once. If you need financial support or if you have any questions about these changes, please email us at info@richfieldsoccer.org.
Thank you as always for your support of RSA!!
